On the opening of proposte 2009, on May 6th, the Chamber of Commerce of the city of Como, in collaboration
with Fondazione Antonio Ratti, presents Open Mind(s).
Open Mind(s) wishes to document the international artistic activity developed after that period, bringing
together a selection of over forty works realized between 1978 and today. Together with works of masters such
as Bernd & Hilla Becher, Dan Flavin, Piero Gilardi, Alex Katz, Joan Jonas, Giulio Paolini, Gerhard Richter,
Mario Schifano, Emilio Vedova, Gilberto Zorio, all artists that in the years covered by the exhibition created
the works of their maturity, the exhibition presents some of the protagonists of the trends that have marked the
best avant-gardes since the end of the Seventies. This is the case of the return to figurative painting of Mike Bidlo,
Jean-Charles Blais, Pizzi Cannella, Sandro Chia, Markus Lüpertz, Mimmo Paladino, Julian Schnabel and
of the more experimental research of Marco Cingolani, Wim Delvoye, Peter Halley, Haim Steinbach and
Jeff Wallthat took the lead during the Nineties.
The exhibition extends its overview to the most recent international trends, with works of important artists
such as Carlo Bernardini, Diango Hernández, Johnathan Monk, Shirin Neshat, Marc Quinn, Jennifer Steinkamp,
Timoty Tomkins, Feng Zhengiie and many more.
Open Mind(s) will be accompanied by a catalogue realized by Cattaneo Paolo Grafiche containing a text
by the curator and documentation of the works on display.
